Ha! & woooo! & oh joy, yes me again - maybe I've overblown my love of car boot sales over the years - and I am not big on consumerism and don't go supermarket/mall shopping unless I have to. But as someone once said - look after the luxuries, and the necessities will take care of themselves. I have found this to be very true.

All my life, the most important THINGS have been records and books and maybe videos. Nothing else. I have always been poor - this isn't meant to be a sob story - I don't deserve any sympathy - I am intelligent enough to've been able to get a good job if I'd wanted one or to have gone self-employed in a lucrative way or to have even made the kind of music that gets sales.

But without poverty I would have nothing to inspire me. And the only way to get really great cheap books and records during the past three decades has been thanks to car boot sales. Charity shops to a lesser extent - though now they are hopeless - they have all been turned into poncey little overpriced charmless tacky boutiques.

So I've loved car boot sales. Every weekend was like Christmas. Now - every day is like Christmas - thanks to the kindness of music-file-sharers on the internet. So car boot sales have taken a lesser role in my life. But I do still get a buzz seeing others dive into boxes of records - I remember the excitement I used to feel.

This "album" was meant to be a 28-minute pure field recording of this morning's car boot sale - pictured. But the ground is like a saturated sponge and hardly anyone bothered to turn up and after 8 minutes I was going round in circles - so that's it - 8 minutes. I've stuck it in the middle of this piece and surrounded it with hyperminimal luddite chants. It's rather good. It's very spartan. I am back on the horse and it's not quite off at a gallop yet - but it's a pretty decent canter. Tally-ho luddites - until tomorrow !!!!!
