THIS ALBUM WILL BE FREE TO DOWNLOAD ON THE 12th OF FEBRUARY - I'VE RUN OUT OF FREE DOWNLOADS FOR THIS MONTH AND THAT IS WHEN I'LL GET A NEW DOLLOP.

TUESDAY 15 JANUARY

Astonishingly I managed to stop flaffing about with this one before it all got horribly muddy and muso and boring. I nearly called it Luddite Hadj 2 - it is so hyperminimal. So as you can imagine, it only took a very short time to make. I like it very much. But I like easy-listening. And I like loops. And I like minimalism. And I like lofi. And it's like what I say - if other people won't do it, I've got to do it myself. Now for the opportune moment to talk about free music.

I believe that my music should be free download - because it is easy-peasy to make and anyone can do it and everyone should do it. And because it doesn't take long. And because doing it is a joy. But mainly because it would be too embarrassing if I tried to sell it and had it rubbed in my face that everyone thinks it's shit. I used to be quite militant and say that everyone's music-downloads should be free. But time has mellowed me.

There are people who want to buy and people who want to sell. I envy them both. That music gets taken seriously. The idea of course is that you give your early stuff away for free and then when you have millions of fans you zap them with a bill for your latest thing and they're soooo hooked on your music that they pay up.

But I think that actually they get hooked on the freeness - and when you put a price on things they just move on to something else that is free and just as brilliant. And there is always plenty of other stuff that is just as brilliant. My Bandcamp stats graphs rose embarrassingly & now all my 200 free downloads vanish only a few days into the new "Bandcamp month". I can buy more.

And I probably should. But I'm unemployed and cash isn't abundant and when the new month starts I'll make my most recent shit free-download - no one needs to "own" more than about two of my albums - they're all the same - each one is the best I can do - and I only have one "best" - it's the same best every day. Toodlepip till the next one.
