about

.TUESDAY 4 DECEMBER 2012

oh my oh my no this is not a good one - I needed that man from Porlock to visit after ten minutes because even though I yearned to be really lazy and fast and NEEDED to be those things too - it is just human nature to tweak and tweak and I don't know anyone who thinks that "progress" has made them any happier.

Except I sometimes watch beautiful things on youtube or download a beautiful piece of truly minimal chamber music and then I would rather live in 2012 than 1942. Or I watch porn and realise it would've made me waste less time and saved lots of embarrassment. I still laugh every time I see a naked man.

Or I look at my possessions and remember that I haven't touched most of them in years and the next person who will touch them will be a grandchild laughing as she breaks out from the gloom of this house and walks under the driveway-tree to the skip. So it's brilliant - the too-muchness makes none of it matter. As for the title and the music - I just wanted to remind my future older self that everything became routine. When you're in it you wish you were out of it. When you're out of it you realise you are just doing stuff like in the adverts.
