This is the first piece of chamber music I have ever written. People have asked me why "modern classical" is always so slow. Why not do something that is fast and busy ? The answer - too many notes.

This piece took less than ten minutes to write. I entered the eleventh minute and every note I wrote made things crap. So I wrote the right repeat sign and sent everyone back to do it all again. Nineteen times.

In the twentieth century "classical" music tailored itself to its carrier medium - the 20-minute sides of an LP, and then the 80 minutes of the CD. For the next few years I will tailor my "classical" pieces to the Bandcamp free upload limit of about 28 minutes. Just saying. In the future, scholars will wonder why all my pieces are 28 minutes long. Hold on. I'm having a blonde beethovenic moment. They won't give a fuck. But where have all the scholars gone ? I too spend all my time on the Daily Mail website.
