WEDNESDAY 5 DECEMBER 2012

oooh darlings it has been an unusually busy day for me - just back from jolly old Wiggers (the Wigmore Hall) where they played two of my favourite pieces by Britten - his Sinfonietta and his Phantasy Quartet - yes that was me sitting right in the middle blocking your view - sorry. Wasn't it thrilling. And they played a short piece by Lutoslawski.

And a very nice piece by Dobrinka Tabakova on its world premiere tour and she came up to the stage to take our applause and I whooped - oh wouldn't it've been great it that was ME !!!. Wouldn't it be BEAUTIFUL to have a little chamber ensemble willing to play my latest pieces while the ink's still wet. Dream on bozo.

Four and then nine and then ten of them were up there on the stage as the oboist pulled his glorious weird faces and I wondered how I'd score them all in a way to beat the gorgeous moment near the end of Britten's Sinfonietta where the horn blows slow and long - and then I remembered that back here at home my own Piano Sonata #3 was uploading to Bandcamp and I have just come home and here it all is - all safely Bandcamped - and you will laff, but I think this very very very ludicrously simple piece for one piano is even more beautiful than if I had ten instruments at my disposal.

Yes I am not bashful - I love this piece very much - maybe more than anything else I've got on Bandamp. I stopped after about fifteen minutes. But being without the music was like a bereavement. So I carried on till my 28 minutes were up - that is why the piece has a short pause near the middle.

No you will not like it. It is far too bleak. But travelling home from London as this sunny winter afternoon instantly turned to evening and the sun began to hide - the air was so clean and every twig on all the horizons was so sharp and I knew that if you love nature and everything far away from the roads and houses then my simple piano piece here is closer to god than Britten ever got - sorry to be arrogant, but you surely can't think I'd be doing this shit if I thought it was shit.
