SATURDAY EVENING 1 DECEMBER 2012

Hello fans and if you are a fan then you do know that you are always welcome and what happened last night was that I was going to see Woodpecker Wooliams over in Bournemouth for a very rare evening out but at the last moment my carer duties took over and I couldn't go and I had been so geared up to go and get drunk and see her new harp and I could only find an outlet by playing the cello late into the night.

It was going to be my cello sonata. I did record it and it will appear here very soon. It is beautifully austere and dry and slow and many would say boring. So three-quarters of the way in I decided to add some piano. And the piano was beautiful. 22 minutes of dull cello and then 6 minutes of gorgeous piano.

Oh if you are unfortunate and old you will remember when people would listen to long boring tracks just for the nice little bit in the middle. There is no need to do that nowadays. I am glad. It suits me. But it would be great to recapture that discipline. To have favourite albums which you play all the way through even though you only like 2 of the 8 tracks on it. To watch whole films just for the moving five minutes at the end.

So I played the piano for six minutes to finish off my cello sonata. And then I played it for 28 minutes to create my piano sonata. And here it is. It is almost so beautiful that it makes me glad to have missed Woodpecker. But not quite. Being creative is great. But having experiences is better. I might add the cello sonata as the second track on this "album".

It seems so silly talking about "albums" when everything now is just one picture and some MP3s and even something as exciting as a new album from me creates a buzz that only lasts about twelve hours. But accept it all. Go with the flow and all that shit. It keeps me high - doing an album every 48 hours - it keeps the music simple - and therefore beautiful - all the crap that happens in life is what makes the art so great - it's a romantic view & I believe it.

SUNDAY 2 DECEMBER

oooh la la - ask & it shall be done - yes here is the cello sonata too. What a perfect "shape" this album now has - a long beautiful minimal piece of piano, then a longish boring piece of depressing cello, and right at the end, like a delightful gleam of sunlight after a horrible English Sunday, back to some beautiful piano again. Truly these are great times to be alive.

Don't be like some dinner guest nervously taking half a potato and one sprout - do feel free to download - the initial flurry has passed and the graphs have all levelled out comfortably - along the very bottom oh woe.

Never mind - I do know there is a bigger cachet in hearing the new Robbie Williams album and having something to talk about among your friends - in spite of my cherished soi-disant "outsider" status I too sometimes wish I could fit in better and think of amusing things to say on Twitter - but we are each chained to our personality-type - as Bartok once said: "Sonja, you're fucked".
